Okay so the rumors have been out for a long time now… ever since the Ferrari 599 GTB made it’s debut in 2006, it’s been said a Hybrid based on around the 599 GTB are on the project table for Ferrari. Ferrari has been nice enough to leak out some juicy tidbits over the years–more info can be found at my article here–but it’s only been a rumor…. until last Thursday.

Ferrari finally confirmed that the Ferrari 599 GTB Hybrid will be making its way onto the Showroom of the Geneva Motor Show 2010!  During last Thursday’s presentation of the 2010 F1 Ferrari in Maranello, Italy,  Chairman Luca di Montezemolo stated that, “It has to be the avant-garde in automobile technology. We’re constructing cars with an enormous part of the innovative technology. We’ll present a 599 hybrid in Geneva, which will represent a great path towards the future.”  Ferrari’s F1 Website has also released a statement confirmation and a video regarding the 599 GTB hybrid.

Although this may be great news for the “Greener Side” of the Automotive industry, will Ferrari be stepping outside the boundaries of their precious and highly exclusive niche?  Will their hybrid engine technology lack the horsepower and ingenuity of other Ferrari made muscle cars–that which Ferrari has staked their entire marketing brand on?  Time will only tell  as the Geneva Motor Show comes underway in 2010! Stay tuned!
